Graveside services for Fred "Cowboy" Nelson, Sr., age 46, of Lafayette, TN, were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, 1 p.m. at the Leonard Cemetery in Macon County, with Jack Honeycutt officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Fred Nelson passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, at Macon County General Hospital.

A native of Indiana, he was the son of the late James and Elsie Shipley Coons. He married the former Rite Law on Dec. 12, 1987 who survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Gibson. He was a sawmill worker.

Survivors besides his wife include daughter, Teresa Nelson, Lafayette; sons, Bobby York, Ft. Run, KY, Fred Nelson, Jr. and Teddy Nelson; sister, Ms. Peggy Nelson and half-sister, Mrs. Florence Robertson, all of Lafayette; and four grandchildren.
