The event was kicked off with the first ever Itti Bitti Hillbilly Baby contest. The babies from birth to age 4 were dressed to their best in hillbilly clothing. Thursday night also saw a huge turnout for the cakewalk.
Approximately 1500 people ate over 300 pounds of fried fish at Friday night's fish fry. The community also enjoyed good gospel music from seven gospel bands.
Saturday's crowd reached almost 2000 as people listened to the music and shopped at the many booths.
According to member Chris Phillips, this year was a huge success. "We appreciate all the support whether it be having a booth or eating fish," said Phillips. "We just appreciate everything the community does to help."
Mr. and Ms. Hillbilly, Stacy Brawner and Brenda Coley raised approximately $12,000. Look for pictures from the event in next weeks edition.
