William Lewis Gregory, 88, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away early Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at his residence. The Macon County, Tennessee native was a son of the late John Washington Gregory and Jemial "Jenny" Taylor Gregory, a retired construction worker, and a member of Buffalo Springs Missionary Baptist Church. He was united in marriage on February 10, 1971 to JoAnn Mervine Gregory.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Gregory, Lafayette, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, James Lewis and Dorothy Gregory, Lafayette, TN; 3 daughters and a son-in-law, Maxine Williams, Gallatin, TN; Claudie Ford, Sparta, TN; Tippee and Roger Cruse, Greenbrier, TN; 2 brothers, Douglas Gregory, Clayton, N.C.; and J. C. Gregory, Westmoreland, TN; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Sue Gregory, 5 brothers, Floyd, Archie, Tommy, Toy Lee, and Ollie Gregory, and 2 sisters, Effie Carr and Mary Jane Graves.

Funeral services for William Lewis Gregory were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Doug Curtis officiating. Burial was in Eulia Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Ricky Gregory, James Ray Gregory, Gary Wayne Gregory, Jimmy Dale Gregory, Timmy Lee Gregory, and Joe Carr. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Joe Cox and Roger Gaines.

Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.
