Marijuana was found in the wallet of a Red Boiling Springs Junior High Basketball player Friday, December 10.

RBSPD Assistant Chief Steve Evans stated that the student left his wallet on the school bus after a basketball game Thursday night. Reportedly, the bus driver found the wallet and gave the wallet to principal Don Jones. Jones reportedly opened the wallet to determine the owner and found a small amount of marijuana.

Assistant Chief Evans reported that the student and his parents were brought into the police department for questioning and the boy allegedly stated that he had the marijuana in his possession. A juvenile petition was obtained by authorities. A court date has been set for January 20, 2005.

Basketball Coach Michael Owens would not comment on the incident. Principal Don Jones stated that zero tolerance has been applied to the student.
