Upon arrival, the deputies located the vehicle and met with two Smith County officers on the scene in Macon County. The vehicle was a red Toyota Corolla with a license plate removed. The vehicle had reportedly sustained heavy damage.
Officers searched the vehicle and found an old utility bill with the name of Jamie Silcox and a city address. The deputies contacted the Lafayette Police and advised them of the situation. The police department reportedly went to the address of Silcox on Scottsville Road and spoke with a female subject.
She stated that Silcox had left in a red Corolla and had gone to Carthage to see a friend.
The vehicle was towed from the scene with charges pending.
Jamie Wayne Silcox, age 28, of Lafayette was later charged by Deputy Grand Malo with no proof of insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, and property damage. His court date is scheduled for May 18, with a bond set at $1000.
