Jamie Scott Howard, age 27, of Lafayette passed away Saturday, November 5, in a single vehicle accident.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Howard was west bound on Highway 262 in Jackson County. He was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve. The driver reportedly lost control of the 1996 Pontiac 4-door and traveled off the east bound side of the road. The vehicle then overturned over a large embankment ejecting the driver. The car then hit several small trees and large rocks. The vehicle came to final rest 250 feet from the road.

According to the report from THP Lt. Randy Maynard, the driver was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.

Lt. Maynard was assisted by Trooper Ed Crouch.
