The Macon County Tigerettes and the Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs got together last Friday night, as both teams entered the game undefeated. The Lady Dawgs are always tough to handle on their home floor, but the Tigerettes had already been road tested once this season at Station Camp. On the other hand RBS hasn’t really been threatened at all this season winning every game by double digits. However, when these two teams meet up you can throw all the records out the door and pretty much expect a close hard fought game. This night would be no different.

The Tigerettes stormed out to a 9-2 lead early in the first quarter hitting a barrage of long range shots and playing up tempo defense. However, it didn’t take long for the Lady Bulldogs to make a run as the first quarter ended with the Tigerettes clinging to a 12-10 lead. The second quarter was much of the same, as both teams netted 15 points as the Tiigerettes carried a 27-25 lead going into the intermission.

Macon County extended their lead in the third quarter, as they outscored Red Boiling Springs 12-11 in the third period. This gave the Tigerettes a 39-36 lead going into the final period of action. This game was exciting all the way through, and you just seemed to think whoever had the ball last would be the one to come away with a win! The Lady Dawgs clawed their way back and took a one point lead with just six seconds left. The Tigerettes last chance effort to win the game bounced off the rim and the Lady Bulldogs pulled out the come from behind victory by a final score 47-46.

The Lady Dawgs were led in scoring by senior Whitney Jordan who scored a team high 15 points. Ashton Gentry continued to have a hot hand as she had double digits in scoring with 13 points. Eighth grader Laken Leonard is now undefeated in her high school playing career against MCHS as she chipped in 9 points. Caylie Dickens and Kelley Rich rounded out the scoring with 5 points each.

The Tigerettes were led in scoring by Katilyn Gregory with 17 points. Sierra Conley also got into double figures with 10 points. Holly Compton also chipped in with 9 points of her own. Compton fouled out late in the fourth quarter, although the Tigerettes book keeper insisted she had only four fouls!

Also scoring for the Tigerettes were Brandi Sircy with 8 points and Courtnea Clark with 2.

The Lady Bulldogs remain undefeated on the season with a record of 5-0, while the Tigerettes fall to 3-1. Both teams will be in action again Tuesday, as the Lady Dawgs travel to Clay County, while the Tigerettes host Gordonsville.

Tip off for both games is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
