Funeral services for Amie Carter, age 91, of Lafayette were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder J.E. Shoulders officiating. Her pallbearers were James Driver, Edsel Carter, Gary Carter, Shawn Carter, Clint Carter, and Steve Driver. Interment followed in the Enon Cemetery.

Amie Carter passed away Sunday morning, December 4, 2005 at the Knollwood Manor in Lafayette.

She was born October 24, 1914 in Macon County, TN, the daughter of the late Asa and Nettie Jones Blankenship. She was married to Johnny Carter, who preceded her in death. Besides her husband and parents, her daughter, Mariam Carter, great-granddaughter, Makaya Ann Carter, and brother, Jim Blankenship preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Galen Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Dixie & James Driver, Indianapolis, IN; sons & daughters-in-law, the late Anthony & Kathy Carter, Edsel & Janice Carter, and Gary & Debby Carter all of Lafayette; grandchildren, Delaine Guy, Steve Driver, Shawn Carter, Kelly Carnahan, Sonja Gregory, Andrea Crowder, Clint Carter, Holly Flowers; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Erma Dell Carter; brother, O.D. Blankenship, both of Lafayette.
