Myrtle Ray Scruggs, 83, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Tuesday, September 12, 1922, a daughter of the late Paul D. Ray and Rosie Ethel Dickens Ray. She was a retired presser for Westmoreland Blouse Factory and member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to George Finch Scruggs, who preceded her in death on September 23, 1987.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Haskel and Azzie D. Ray, Hartsville, TN; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Parker, Portland, TN; Nettie K. and Bill McClanahan, of Lafayette, TN; a brother-in-law, L. C. Hall, Lafayette, TN; a sister-in-law, Donna Sue Ray, Portland, TN; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Winford Ray and Franklin B. Ray, and 2 sisters, Della Mae Hall and Virginia Lee Slaven.

Funeral services for Myrtle Ray Scruggs were conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church with Eld. Jackie Stagner officiating. Burial was in Eulia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glen Ray, Danny Hall, Jimmy Parker, Eugene McClanahan, William Lackey, and Roy N. Ray.
