Mr. Vester Wilson of the Highland Community, died at the age of 84, Wednesday evening, October 11, 2006 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. James Bybee officiated and burial followed in the John L. Clark Cemetery.

Born September 19, 1922 in the Indian Creek Community of Jackson County he was one of seven children of the late John Wilson Sr. and Lugenia Huffines Wilson. Five siblings preceded Mr. Wilson in death, Paul Wilson, Edna Long, Verdie Richardson, Bessie Morgan, Esther Richardson.

On September 5, 1942, he was united in marriage to Dovie Madeline Etheridge. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2005. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Hollaway on August 26, 1990.

Mr. Wilson was a dedicated farmer and a member of the Haydenburg Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Dale Hollaway and husband Jr., Fredia Draper and husband Johnny, all of Highland; two grandchildren, Shawn Spivey and husband Randy and their son Neylan, all of Gainesboro, Matthew Stafford and wife Ashley of Highland; brother, John Wilson, Jr. and wife Katherine of Cookeville.
