The 2001 Ford truck was unrecognizable, from the road, upside down and crushed in the ravine, off the east side of the Lafayette Hill Tuesday afternoon; but the sixteen year old driver sustained only minor injuries, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

Just before 3:00 p.m., on October 31, for the third time in as many weeks, the Macon County Sheriff's Department, Lafayette Police Department, county emergency services, Lafayette Fire Department first responders, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol reported to the scene of a vehicle off the road, on S.R. 10.

Once again, rescuers used ropes and pulleys to rappel down the steep embankment and bring up the driver, on a medical sled.

Traveling north on S.R. 10, the Lafayette teenager lost control of her vehicle, coming out of a curve, on the rain slick road. There were no passengers in the truck, and no other vehicles were involved. The driver was charged with failure to use due care and violation of the seat belt law, according to THP Trooper Tracy Donoho.
