Loses Heartbreaker Homecoming to Westmoreland

Makes Big Comeback against Overton County

The Macon County Jr. High Tigers was defeated by the Eagles of Westmoreland by a score of 16 - 12 Tuesday, August 28 at the Pat Parker Memorial Field.

After the crowning of Homecoming Queen Amy Spears by Chase Greenhalgh and Dallas Grace, the Macon County Jr. High Tigers football game got underway with the Eagles drawing first blood with a 54 yard touchdown by WHS Jordan Champion in the first quarter making the score 8 - 0.

With 2:28 left in the first period, MCJHS Landon Hassard scored a 4 run touchdown on an excellent 11 yard drive by the Tigers, with the extra point failing, making the score 8 - 6, Tigers trailing.

Going into the second half, Dallas Grace completed an eleven yard touchdown, Tigers now up over the Eagles 12 - 8.

The Tigers did a lot of things right in the second half, but made one mistake when WJHS intercepted a pass and returned for a 54 yard touchdown making the score 16 - 12.

Even at that, the Tigers were backed up in their own 10 yard line to start the drive, they got to the three yard line with an excellent chance to win the football game with 48 seconds left on the clock. Grace made an excellent pass down the middle to receiver Tyler Manning and at the last second, Westmoreland defenders blocked Manning's view and the ball went incomplete as 3 seconds remained on the clock.
