Funeral services for Wallace Johnson Shockley, age 85, of Fountain Run, were held Monday, Jan. 7th at 1 p.m. from Fountain Run First Baptist Church with Bro. Herman Wilkins officiating. Interment was in Fountain Run Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael and Brian Celsor, Kenny Reagan, Joe Cornwell, Terry Fitzpatrick, and Ivan Pedigo. Honorary pallbearers were James Gordon Williams, Lonnie Ray Holland, Marshal Celsor, and Lewis Edward Manion.

He passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at Harborside in Bowling Green, KY.

Mr. Shockley was a retired postmaster, deacon and clerk of Fountain Run First Baptist Church, a WWII veteran, past clerk for Monroe Baptist Assoc., clerk for the city of Fountain Run, member of Fountain Run Men's Club, served on the cemetery board, and was a KY Colonel.

Born in Monroe Co., KY on July 25, 1922, he was the son of the late Samuel Edward and Lucy Jane Shockley. He was married in Barren Co. to Sarah Frances Bunch Shockley, who survives.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Frank Edward Shockley and a sister, Deleah Eaton.

Survivors other than his wife of over 50 years include a son, Dr. Alben Shockley, his wife Joanna, and their sons, Luke, Paul, and Bryce Shockley of Owensboro, KY; daughter, Vana Vomcemt, her husband, Perry, and their son, Adam of Bowling Green.

Services under the direction of Hughes Funeral Home in Fountain Run.
