Mr. Edward Ray Brown better known as “Ray”, of Lafayette, died at the age of 85 on Tuesday evening, January 22, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services for Edward “Ray” Brown were conducted by Jerry Mercer from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon, January 24, at 2:00 p.m.  James, Jimmy, Thomas, and Johnny Driver, Dustin Janz, Phillip Brown, and Gus Fisher were honorary pallbearers. Corby Brown, Randall Brown, Ronnie Brown, Larry Brown, Brett Minchey, and Dusty Janz served as active pallbearers. Burial followed in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park with military honors.

Born Edward Ray Brown in Monroe County, Kentucky on September 30, 1922, he was one of seven children of the late Lee and Eliza (Anderson) Brown.  On February 27, 1953, he married the former Pearlie C. Driver, who preceded him in death on March 24, 1993.  Besides his parents and wife, his brother, Fred Brown, sisters, Olene Hix, and Jean Pace preceded him in death.  

He had been a farmer, a carpenter, and was a member of the Lafayette Church of Christ. He served his Country in the Army during WWII and was a member of the Lafayette VFW.

He is survived by; daughter, Brenda (Roger) Minchey of Lafayette, TN, brother, Newman Brown of Red Boiling Springs, TN, sisters, Irene Gregory of Thompson Station, TN, Kathrine Kenning of Hermitage, TN, grandson, Brett (Nichole) Minchey, great-grandson, Dusty Janz.
