* Rita Egan with FEMA reported on February 19 the number of residents assisted by the organization in tornado relief. 443 Macon Countians have been served by FEMA along with 153 residents of Sumner, and 50 persons in Trousdale County.
* NOTIFY LOCAL UTILITIES OF SERVICES TO BE DISCONNECTED DUE TO TORNADO DAMAGE
Individuals who suffered loss and extensive damage of homes should notify each utility company. Charges for continued service may be passed on to customers as companies may be unaware of level of damage to individuals homes.
* REMOVAL AND DEBRIS AND PERSONAL PROPERTY
February 20, 2008-Lafayette and Macon County
Lafayette, TN - Macon County Mayor Shelvy Linville and
City of Lafayette Mayor Bill Wells announced today a
change to the debris removal and removal of personal
property from storm damage areas of the City of
Lafayette and Macon County.
Individuals and companies are no longer authorized to
pick-up scrap metal or personal property without
proper documentation to include: Property owners Name,
Property owners contact information at that time,
address for property where items were located,
inventory of items authorized for removal and
inventory of items removed.
All debris in the right-of-ways is property of the
city within the city limits and property of the county
within the county limits.
Individuals and companies shall have prior approval
from local government before removing any debris.
Anyone caught violating these provisions are subject
to prosecution.

FEMA's Message of the Week
Benton, Hickman, Houston, Lewis, Montgomery, Perry, Trousdale and Williamson counties are added to disaster declaration.
Homeowners, renters, and businesses in those counties can get help to recover from Feb. 5-6 tornadoes as well as those in th original five counties: Macon, Madison, Hardin, Shelby and Sumner.
The Disaster Recovery Center at 1200 Russell Dr. ( National Guard Armory at the Macon County fairgrounds ) remains open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. until February 25.
The hours will change to 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sundays the center will be closed.

-FEMA operators available at both toll-free 7 a.m. to midnight CST seven days a week, until further notice.
FEMA's Individual Assistance program can help eligible applicants with: temporary housing assistance; uninsured personal property; medical, dental, and funeral expenses caused by the disaster; and other serious un met needs.
Low interest disaster loans from SBA are available to homeowners, renters, and businesses of all sizes.
Registrants getting an SBA loan application must complete and return it to be considered for some kinds of help. Information in the application allows FEMA and SBA to determine the type of assistance an applicant may recieve, bur applicants are not required to take out an SBA loan.
