A former custodian at Red Boiling Springs School was arrested on April 9 for one count of aggravated statutory rape. Tabitha Doss, 33, made bail and is expected in court on the 25th.

“The official complaint came through our school resource officers,” said Macon County Detective Bryon Satterfield, “stating that he had received some information that a situation just did not look right with this employee of the school and a minor. Once we received that information, we began interviewing witnesses that might have seen some inappropriate behavior. At that particular point, those leads led to us bringing her in for questioning about the inappropriate behavior with a fifteen-year-old male juvenile.”

Satterfield wished to make it very clear that assumptions should not be made about the situation as it relates to the high school or the identity of the minor.

“Upon this questioning, and statements from some of the witnesses, we conferred with the district attorney’s office, who advised that [the accusation] would fall under aggravated statutory rape and at that time she was detained and arrested and charged.

“Immediately upon starting this investigation,” assured Satterfield, “the school administration was notified of the situation and she was terminated.”
