Hello my name is David R. Harper and I am asking for your vote to elect me as your representative from the newly drawn 38th District. This district includes Macon, Clay, Picket, north Fentress and Scott Counties.

My wife of 52 years, my high school sweetheart, and I live on a working farm in Macon County. We are members of Berea Christian Church. We have two children and one grandchild.

I grew up on a farm in southern Kentucky and earned an FFA State Farmer Degree, so I understand the challenges of farming. As a conservationist I also understand the responsibility of being good stewards of the land as well as respecting ones neighbors.

My work career after graduation from college consisted of 17 years at a leading plastic processer in Nashville. I performed cost estimating, toy design, tool engineering and sales. I then joined Bayer Corporation as a raw material engineering sales representative. My skill of working with people that had different views from mine paid off with my former employer signing my first $2,000,000 contract within weeks.

While living in Nashville for 30 years and working for Bayer 20 years I did volunteer work for numerous organizations. After retirement here in Macon County I continue to do the same by participating in Three Star, Ed Foundation etc. I always felt that I got more from helping good causes than I put into them.

One of the the organizations having a huge impact on my leadership skill building was the Boy Scout leaders training called Wood Badge. I was named permanent leader of my adult troop and I earned my third Bead as an adult trainer.

Another educational/professional organization I joined was the Society of Plastic Engineers. As a member I was exposed to people and countries in both hemispheres. I served in every office including President of the Tenn. Valley Section. Additionally I was elected and served every office of the International Society as well.

I served two terms as Chairman of the Macon County Democratic party. Currently I am serving as the Committeeman for the 17th State Senatorial District and my peers on the Executive Committee elected me as Vice-Chair of Middle Tennessee Democratic Party for a second term.

I have the ability, skill, knowledge, and experience to bring focus on and solve the problems that exist in the 38th. If you want OUR issues in front of time wasting items dwelled on last year please vote for me. Communicate your concerns to votedavidharper.com.

Thanks for your vote.
