Willmore new BOE Chairman

The Macon County Board of Education met in regular session on September 13, 2012 and voted to place Billy Willmore as the new chairman, naming Steve Walton as vice-chairman for the current school year.

The Board approved to accept the school audit bid and also accepted a bid from Clark Construction to make upgrades to the school bus garage.They also announced a new bid for Westside Propane.

Board members approved a textbook that was not on the bid sheet for Teaching as a Profession class in Family Consumer Sciences.

The fieldhouse located behind Central Elementary was discussed and it was approved to take the building and use it for storage.

The grading system for Macon County High School and Red Boiling Springs High School was approved for change.

The Board decided to stop banking snow days until a new policy could take place.

The baseball debt at Red Boiling Springs came up for discussion, and it was decided to give the team additional time to repay the debt that concurred from previous coaches.

The Board tabled the newly revised policies concerning school board meetings, charter schools, separation practices for tenured and non-tenured teachers, evaluation of the Director of Schools, the suspension, expulsion and remand policy, and the safe relocation of students policy, until clarifications could be made in the policies.

The Board approved Stellar Therapy Services, and the Race to the Top budget for the 2012-2013 school year.

The Board voted to take bids for 1999 International 66 passenger surplus bus and approved a request for extended utilization of a vehicle with twelve years of service. Board members also voted to advertise for two new school buses.

The Board approved the TSBA Policy Service, and set the next worksession for September 27th at 7 p.m. The next scheduled board meeting is set for 7 p.m.
