The Macon County National Guard Armory opened its doors Thursday afternoon to anyone who was interested in the Military or just curious as to what the National Guard duties included. The Macon County National Guard is a Forward Support Unit that supports the Second Squadron of the Armoured Caliber Regiment. It provides the Second Squadron with all their food, fuel, maintenance support, ammunition, and communication needs. “If it breaks, we fix it. If they’re hungry, we feed them. If they need bullets, we supply those too.” Stated Sgt. 1st Class Whitley.

The Macon County National Guard also operates, on a local level, as a Red Cross Emergency Station, with the ability to feed am entire community.
