Lafayette residents may have noticed that their local McDonald’s is under construction—it’d be hard to miss. The restaurant is undergoing a complete renovation, said owner-operator Ted Lyon, which will be complete in early December.

“It’s the most exciting building concept that we have,” Said Lyon. “It will increase capacity of the restaurant substantially with additional seating. Our customers really enjoy the convenience of the drive through, and we’re going to have two lanes of drive-through access to improve our capacity there.

We’re expanding our kitchen. We’re going to have all new seating and décor, all new restrooms. We’re going to feature a lobby beverage service. It’s an incredible look; it’s going to look just like we built a brand-new McDonald’s restaurant there.”

The location will no longer have an outdoor playground, as it has been removed to make way for other features. “Right now we’ve been monitoring the use of the outdoor PlayPlace,” said Lyon, “and we saw a better use of the space by extending the dining room and increasing our capacity there.”

There will be a grand re-opening in the second week of December, featuring Santa and a number of other fun attractions to welcome customers into the new facility.
