Last Tuesday, the Macon County Tigers opened their season against Livingston Academy. Livingston had already beaten the Tigerettes and was ready to deal with the Tigers. However, the Tigers wouldn’t allow that to happen as they beat the Wildcats 66-55. The Wildcats only had 5 players on the team, so they had no substitutes and really got winded at the end of the game. The Tigers would then pounce on their prey and pull away.

The starters in this game were Peyton Clark, Tyler Clark, Dalton Shrum, Aaron Carter, and Trey McPherson. The first quarter was an interesting quarter as both teams traded blows like prize fighters. Livingston led at the half 15-13. Livingston would continue to hold the lead in the second quarter. It would seem it would only be a two point game at the half, but Livingston drained a half-court three point shot and made it 34-29 at the half.

Whatever Coach Welch told his team during the half seemed to work perfectly, as the Tigers went on a 9-0 run and took the lead 38-34. At the end of the third quarter, it was 45-40 Macon County. In the fourth, Livingston began to get gassed, and the Wildcats arguably best player, a 6’6 center, fouled out with 3 minutes left, and the Wildcats were forced to play with four players. The Tigers took advantage of this and pulled away, winning the game 66-55.
