On December 3, the Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Bulldogs took on Defeated. The Bulldogs completely and utterly annihilated Defeated by a score of 61-26. This might possibly had been the game of the year for the Bulldogs on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

The first quarter began the slaughter. RBS quickly jumped out to a huge lead. The Bulldogs went on a 20-3 run in this quarter. In the second quarter, Defeated seemed to fight a little, but it was all in vein. The Bulldogs put up 18 compared to Defeated’s 13, and the Bulldogs led this game 38-16 at the half.

The poor playing continued into the second half for Defeated. The Bulldogs put up 17 points in the third quarter and held Defeated to only 4. It was 55-20 after three quarters! The RBS bench was emptied after the third quarter. The Bulldogs scored 6 in this quarter and went on to easily win this game 61-26.

The Bulldogs best player in this game was Elijah Byfield. He had 20 points, 4 steals, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist! He shot an astounding 10-14 from the field! The only blunder Byfield had was 1 turnover. Another key playmaker for the Bulldogs was Michael Tirjan. Tirjan had 10 points, one assist, and one steal. He shot 5-5 from the field! Great playing by these two young men!

Once the Bulldogs wiped the floor with Defeated, they thought they could go into Trousdale County and pick up an easy victory. They were sadly mistaken, as the Jackets stunned the Bulldogs 35-32. Poor shooting proved to doom the Bulldogs in this game, as they shot a combined 14-48 from the field and 3-13 from the free throw line.

The first half was a terrible half for the Bulldogs. They had only 4 points in each quarter, whereas Hartsville kept piling on points. The Jackets had 8 in the first, 11 in the second. The score at the half was 19-8.

The second half actually looked like the Bulldogs would come back and pick up the victory. They had 13 points in the third quarter and were down 25-21 after the third. However, Trousdale County played great basketball in the fourth quarter, putting up 10 points compared to Red Boiling’s 11. The final score was 35-32 Trousdale County.

The Bulldog’s leading scorer in this game was Elijah Byfield. He had 12 points, a steal, and 5 rebounds. He shot 6-13 which isn’t bad. Long had a rough night shooting, but picked up 5 steals in this game.

The Bulldogs next game will be December 13 immediately following the girls’ game. It will be at home against Hermitage Springs. Then, like the girls, the Bulldogs will be off for the holidays, and will play again on January 3rd at Westmoreland.
