It was a tough ending for the RBS 5th and 6th grade basketball program as they played their final game of the 2012-2013 season. On January 19 they traveled a short distance to take on the Tigers of Lafayette.

Scoring summary in girls play:

1st quarter – RBS 5th and 6th Lady Bulldogs 1 Macon Co. Tigerettes 13

2nd quarter – RBS 5th and 6th Lady Bulldogs 5 Macon Co. Tigerettes 23

3rd quarter – RBS 5th and 6th Lady Bulldogs 11 Macon Co. Tigerettes 26

Final score – RBS 5th and 6th Lady Bulldogs 13 Macon Co. Tigerettes 32

Much like the last meeting of these two teams, the Lady Bulldogs seemed to have difficulty finding their grove against the Tigerettes. The Tigerettes took control early in the game and held that lead beating the Lady Bulldogs by 19. Scoring for the RBS 5th and 6th Lady Bulldogs was #44 Keelan Arnett with 2, #13 Haley Davis with 4, #00 Kennedy Fleming with 2, #21 Chloe Kramer with 2, #23 Briley Morgan with 2, and #14 Elizabeth Anderson with 1.

Scoring summary in boys play:

1st quarter – RBS 5th and 6th Bulldogs 3 Macon Co. Tigers 19

2nd quarter – RBS 5th and 6th Bulldogs 8 Macon Co. Tigers 34

3rd quarter – RBS 5th and 6th Bulldogs 10 Macon Co. Tigers 49

Final score – RBS 5th and 6th Bulldogs 12 Macon Co. Tigers 60

As the same in the past, the Bulldogs just couldn’t seem to get their offense and defense to match up to their opponents. Ending the first quarter, down by 16, the Bulldogs knew they had their work cut out for them. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to keep up with the game the Tigers brought. The game ended in a disappointing 48 point loss for the Bulldogs. Scoring for the Bulldogs was #15 Hunter Kirk with 3 points, #11 Mason Hix with 3 points, and #12 Mattew Murphy with 6 points.

With the ending of the 2012-2013, the 5th and 6th Lady Bulldogs record stands at 2 win and 8 loses while the 5th and 6th Bulldogs final record stands at 0 wins and 10 loses. Coming off 10 straight loses and no wins, Coach Danny McCaleb said although they all feel a little disappointed it’s important to remember that they have learnt some valuable lessons. One of the great things about basketball is that there’s always room for improvement, they can all work on doing something just a little better. Even though their season is now complete, they will be competing in one final tournament in Hermitage Springs. This tournament will take place in February with the date and time to be announced.
