Tigers win big at Senior Night, edge Westmoreland in overtime

The air was cold, but the floor was hot when the Tigers went up against the Devils on Senior Night. Macon County utterly demolished White House 66-33 in their final home game of the regular season. An extremely strong defensive first half led the Tigers to an easy victory.

The first quarter was slow for the Tigers’ offense. The Tigers only scored ten points in the first quarter. However, they only held White House to six points. The Tigers had the lead after one. In the second quarter, the Tigers’ offense furiously put up an incredible twenty-nine points, all while holding White House to four measly points. The score at halftime was 39-10 Macon County.

The second half was more of an offensive quarter for White House. They put up ten in the third quarter and thirteen in the fourth quarter. However, the Tigers didn’t let up on offense, as they scored fifteen points in the third and twelve in the fourth. The Tigers went on to a bittersweet victory 66-33.

Dalton Shrum led the Tigers in scoring with 17 points. Trey McPherson had 11. Tyler Clark scored 8 points. Dillion McCormick and Aaron Carter had seven each. Peyton Clark had six, and Austin McClard and Justin Tucker had three.

The Tigers’ next game was against Westmoreland. The Tigers had had problems with the Eagles all season long, and this game was no exception. However, the Tigers picked up the victory in nail-biting fashion, beating the Eagles 60-53 in overtime.

The first quarter was slow for the Tigers. Westmoreland put up thirteen points in the first quarter, while holding Macon County to only six. However, the second quarter was strong for Macon County. The Tigers put up eighteen points in the second quarter. Westmoreland would put up eleven, and the game was tied at 24 after one half.

The third quarter was a flip of the second quarter. Westmoreland scored eighteen, and Macon County scored eleven. The score after three quarter was 42-35, and it looked the Tigers were done. However, the fourth quarter showed the Tigers scoring seventeen points, while Westmoreland scored ten. The Tigers would tie the game, and Macon County played their first OT game of the season. Overtime was all Macon County. Macon County put up eight points in OT. The Eagles only scored one point. The final score was Macon County 60, Westmoreland 53.

Dillion White was a thorn in the Tigers’ paws all night. White had 30 points, and had four three pointers. He was an offensive powerhouse. Trey McPherson led the Tigers in scoring with 24 points. Tyler Clark had 15 points. Dalton Shrum had 10. Aaron Carter and Evan Perrigo had four each. Dillion Mccormick had two, and Peyton Clark had one.

The Tigers final regular season game will be Monday, February 11 at Station Camp.
