Lamon Christine Thompson, of the Sunrise Community of Macon County was born in Macon County, Tennessee on December 13, 1922 to the late Loran Davis and Rosa Etta Doss Fishburn. She departed this life on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the age of 90 years.
Funeral services for Lamon Thompson were conducted on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder J. W. Greanead and Elder Glen Brawner officiating. T. J. Roark, Troy Barber, Darren Walrond, Gene Jenkins, Daniel Brawner, and Jacob Brawner served as pallbearers.
She was married to William C. West, now deceased, for twenty five years and from this marriage was born one daughter, Selvaline. She was later married for twenty five years to Earl C. Thompson, who is also deceased.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Fishburn and a sister, Lois White. Ms. Lamon lived in Indiana from 1949 to 1977. She moved back to Macon County to care for her aging parents. She was a devoted member of the Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church. She was a hard worker and in addition to being a homemaker for her family and doing all the things that come with that title, she was self employed, owning and operating her beauty shop and ceramic shop. She was very proud of and enjoyed being a part of the Lions Club in Macon County until her health started failing. Like all women of her age, she was taught to make the things you need for your home which included making quilt tops and all kinds of fine needle work. In her later years, she enjoyed working puzzles.
She considered her greatest accomplishment in this life was when she called on the Lord and was saved at the age of thirteen. It has been noted on occasions that the number thirteen is an unlucky number, but Mrs. Lamon always told her family that it was a lucky number for her, as she would tell them that she was born on the 13th and got saved on the 13th, when she was 13. She met her Lord in 2013.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Selvaline and Joe Bransford of the Sunrise Community, she is survived by two grandchildren and their spouses, Seltresia, better known as “Susie” and Tommy Roark of the Galen Community, “Debbie” and Kirk Saylors, of the Sunrise Community, five great-grandchildren and their spouses, T.
