A Macon woman was transported from the scene by EMS after her home burned completely to the ground on Wednesday morning of last week.

The home, which was at 163 Glassgow Lane in the Northwest part of the county near Rocky Mound, is a total loss, said South Allen Fire Chief Joe Young. Both South Allen and Westmoreland Fire Departments responded to the scene. “When we arrived the structure was already on the ground,” said Young. “The lady that lived there was sitting in her car in the front yard… We just controlled the perimeter and made sure it didn’t get in the woods. EMS did check her out and transport her to be checked out, but she was walking on her own.”

Young said the cause of the fire is still unknown.
