Local artists are invited to enter their work in the ninth annual “Arts in Bloom”, an art exhibition sponsored by Macon County Arts Council and Macon Bank & Trust Company. The event will be held April 23 thru April 25, at Macon Bank on the Bypass.

Artists 18 years of age and older may enter two works in any of the following media: Oils, acrylics, watercolor, mixed media, drawing media ( pen and ink, pencil, or pastel), three-dimensional media ( clay, wood, or fibers), or miniatures. Paintings in the miniature category must be under 35 square inches, inclusive of frames. In the case of 3-dimensional work, miniatures should not exceed 6 inches in any direction.

First, second and third place winners will be chosen in each of the categories. First place winners will receive $25 each, second place winners $10, and a Best of Show piece will receive $50. A People’s Choice Award of $25 will be given to the favorite work of the viewing audience. Prize money is given by Macon Bank & Trust Company.

Ted Rose, Dean of Fine Arts at Cumberland University, will again serve as judge for the event. Dean Rose’s extensive career portfolio includes artist, educator, author, and administrator. In each of these capacities he has earned many distinguished awards. MCAC is very pleased and proud that Dean Rose has agreed to once again jury “Arts in Bloom”.

Entry forms for “Arts in Bloom” can be obtained from Frame-It framing shop in Lafayette or by contacting Nancy Doss at 644-5179. Entry forms should be submitted by April 16.
