The Lafayette City Council held a special called meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, to discuss and pass on third and final reading ordinances 579, 580, 581, and 582.

Ordinance 579 rezones property located on Hwy 52 By Pass belonging to Wanda Jones from low-density residential (R1) to highway business (C3).

Ordinance 580 sets the $21, 276, 933 budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. A great deal of this will fund Phase Two of the Hartsville Water Project and for Tee hangars at the airport.

It also accounts for three-quarters of a million dollars in disaster funds received through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

Ordinance 581 amends the budget for the street and sewer departments. It allocates additional funding for street repairs that are needed after last summer’s sewer project primarily.

Ordinance 582 set the city’s property tax rate, which remains $0.71/100 assessed.

All ordinances passed unanimously.

A public hearing was held at 5:55 p.m. to solicit comments concerning these ordinances, but none were given.
