Mchelle Phillips has lived in Macon County her entire life.

She knows District 10 well, having lived within the distory for the last 20 years.

For the next four years, at least, Phillips will be the voice of District 10 in county government.

Running unopposed in the County General Election, Phillips received 187 votes on Thursday, Aug. 5.

She will fill the seat currently held by Mike East, who did not seek reelection.

A 1988 graduate of Macon County High School, she is married to David Phillips. The family is active in youth programs and established Macon County Peewee Football & Cheerleading and Jr. Pro Basketball.

The couple has one son, Jeremy, who is currently attending Vol State and majoring in Secondary Education, in addition to serving as a volunteer football coach at Red Boiling Springs High School.

Phillips is a member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church and the daughter of Glen and June (Barnfield) Brawner. All of her immediate family lives in Macon County.

"I do not know what issues may arise during my term, but I can promise that I will study all sides and then make my decision on what I feel in my heart is the right thing for this county," Phillips previously said. "We must do what we can to preserve our great heritage and to ensure that it remains a great county for our future."
