MR. JACKIE SMITH-age 67 of Westmoreland, TN passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Madison Healthcare and Rehab in Madison, TN. Funeral services for Mr. Jackie Smith were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Likens officiating. Russell Duffer, Ralph Duffer, Ryan Jones, Jared Jones, Joey Robinson, and Derrick Jones served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Shrum Cemetery with Military Honors.

He was born on June 12, 1943 to the late Ewin George Jefferson Smith and Della Florence Likens Smith in Barren County, Kentucky. He was one of nine siblings born to his parents.

Besides his parents; brother, Jerry Wayne Smith, sister, Mary Louise Jones, infant brother, Elmer Lee Smith, and infant sister, Lelar Francis Smith, also preceded him in death.

Jackie served in the United States Army for over three years, from March of 1964 to June of 1967. After returning home, he went to work in construction and continued in that field until he retired in 2000. He was the father of two sons and one daughter by a previous marriage.

He settled down in the Wixtown Community and has lived there for over thirty years. Hunting was what Jackie enjoyed doing, whether it was rabbit hunting or fishing. After he got sick, he was taken care of by a great niece, Michelle Boren and nephew, Carl Gene Jones, who took him to doctor appointments, to the store, and help with his business affairs.

What they did for him is greatly appreciated by his brothers and sisters. Jackie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by; sons, Joe Smith, and Lewis Smith, daughter, Connie Mae Smith, grandchildren, Angie Renee Pinkston, and Shelby Kay Smith all of Indianapolis, IN, sisters, Lynn (Johnny) Hoskins of Green Valley Community in Macon County, TN, Virginia (Carlean) Wix of Rineyville, KY, and Thelma (Bobby) Groce of Glasgow, KY, brothers, George (Roma) Smith, Jr. of Greenwood, IN, and Thomas (Lula Mae) Smith of Greenbrier, TN, special nephew, Carl (Judy) Jones, and special great-niece, Michelle Boren, also survive.
