On December 3rd, the Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Lady Bulldogs took on Defeated. In what would prove to be one of the Lady Dawgs toughest games of the year, RBSJH squeaked by Defeated with a score of 39-33. RBSJH seemed to outplay Defeated in the final minutes.
The first quarter showed that Defeated would be a tough team to beat, as they were leading over the Lady Dawgs 39-33. The second quarter, unfortunately, wasn’t any better, as RBSJH only got 6 points in the second quarter, whereas Defeated got 10. It was 21-16 at the half, Defeated with the lead.
The second half turned out to be a clutch half for the Lady Dawgs. The third quarter showed RBSJH picking up 15 points. They also held Defeated to only 5! The score after three quarters of play was 31-26 RBS! The fourth quarter was the same story for RBS. They had 8 points and Defeated had only 7, and the Lady Dawgs rolled on to defeat Defeated 39-33.
Cayley Tuck led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 10 points. She shot 50% from the field and grabbed two steals and five defensive rebounds. Bailey Morgan also had a good game with 7 points and two steals. Five of her seven points came from the free throw line.
After the Lady Bulldogs snuck by Defeated, they turned their eyes to Trousdale County. The Lady Dawgs had already soundly defeated the Jackets in an earlier meeting. They would soundly defeat the Lady Jackets yet again with a score of 24-6. Shut down D and turnovers helped spark the Lady Bulldogs to victory.
The first quarter was actually somewhat competitive. The Lady Bulldogs started out slow and only led 6-4 after the first quarter. Once the second quarter began, RBS woke up and started pounding the Lady Jackets. The Lady Dawgs scored 9 points in the second quarter and held Trousdale to 2 points. The score at half-time was 15-6 RBS.
The second half was a very boring half if you were a Jacket fan. Red Boiling held the Trousdale County Lady Jackets to zero points in the entire second half! The Lady Bulldogs put 9 more points on the scoreboard in the second half, and finished off the Lady Jackets 24-6.
Cayley Tuck led the team in scoring again with 11 points in this game. She shot 5-11 and also grabbed 8 rebounds, two short of a double-double! Tuck also had a block in this game. Another key game changer in this game was Bailey Morgan. She had 7 points, 6 steals, and snagged two rebounds. The main story, however, was the great defense played by the Lady Dawgs. They only allowed Trousdale County to get off 10 shots and grab 12 defensive rebounds altogether! If defense wins championships, watch for out for the Lady Bulldogs once playoff time rolls around!
The Lady Bulldogs again on December 13 against Hermitage Springs at home. They are then off for the holidays. They will play again January 3 at Westmoreland, so come out on the 13th and watch the Lady Bulldogs as an early Christmas present for yourself!
