December 27-29, the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs Basketball competed in the All A’s Shootout Tournament in Monticello, KY. Shortly after, the Bulldogs came back to Macon County to participate in the Nera White Tournament in Lafayette. During this tournament, they played three games, but unfortunately came up short all three games, not placing in the tournament.
Scoring Summary in Game 1 vs. Lancaster Christian on December 27th:

At the start of this tournament, the Bulldogs came out strong, looking good in the first quarter. By the end of the first, they were only down by 6 points. However, the rest of the game proved to be a tough challenge for the Bulldogs. Even though they were down by 31 points at the start of the last quarter, the Bulldogs never gave up, which speaks highly of this team. They never game up and fought a hard battle and didn’t stop until the final buzzer. They managed to attempt 23 two point shots, making 12, for 52.2%. From the three point line, they shot 15 times, hitting 4, for 26.7. They went to the free throw line a total of 38 times. They made 16 of those for 42.1%. Individual stats for the Bulldogs were:

Two players for RBS had great scoring games. #15 Alex Mullinix had 14 points for the Bulldogs. He also had 2 rebounds, 1 deflection, 1 steal, and 4 assists. #50 Dallas Greanead added 13 points to the Bulldogs total, as well as, 10 rebounds and 2 deflections.

The Bulldogs returned the second day to face the Blue Devils of Jackson County. This was the second time these two teams had faced each other this season. During the previous meeting, the Blue Devils cruised through the game beating the Bulldogs by 34 points. However, this was not the case during this meeting. The Blue devils definitely underestimated the determination of the RBS Bulldogs. The Bulldogs started this matchup strong and never backed down. By the end of the first half of the game, the Bulldogs were actually leading the Blue Devils unlike the first time they faced each other. With the start of the third quarter, the Bulldogs steam seemed to be fading slowing. They ended the quarter down by 3. By the middle of the fourth quarter it was obvious that the drive the Bulldogs had earlier was gone, although, they didn’t give up. The Blue Devils defense was too much for the Bulldogs, as they held the Bulldogs from scoring at all in the fourth. The game ended with the Bulldogs losing by 15, which is a huge improvement from the previous meeting between the two teams. Attempting 15 three pointers, the Bulldogs hit 4 of those for 26.7% accuracy. From the two point range, the Bulldogs put of 14 shots, successfully hitting 4, for 28.6%. Their opponent sent them to the foul line 11 times, with the Bulldogs hitting 6, for 54.5%. Adding to the Bulldogs game stats was:

The third and final game found the Bulldogs of RBS facing the Yellow Jackets of Trousdale County. This was the first meeting of these teams this season. The Yellow Jackets started out strong and didn’t let up coming out on top the Bulldogs. By halftime, the Bulldogs were down 22 points and had a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately, the second half was not enough time for the Bulldogs to do so. The Bulldogs were able to get 18 two point shots off. They hit 8 of those for 44.4%. They attempted 17 shots from the three point line, hitting 6, for 35.3%. From the free throw line, they only shot 4 times, making 2, for 50%. Individual statistics for the Bulldogs are:

And rounding out the stats was leading scorer #11 Zane Roberts with 15 points. Roberts also had 1 rebound, 1 charge take, 2 deflections, and 2 assists.
We the close of this tournament, the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs had a few days rest before returning to regular season action. Once again, they faced the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets on January 4th.
