The Red Boiling Springs Basketball program took to the road this week and then returned home to close out their 2012-2013 season. They traveled to Trousdale County on February 5 before returning home to host the Tigers of Gordonsville and honor their seniors on Friday, February 8.

The Lady Bulldogs made sure that their fans received an exciting game on Tuesday, till the very end.
They trailed for the first two quarters of play, but they kept within a few points of the Lady Jackets. Sophomore Kaitlyn McCarter kept the Lady Bulldogs in the game with the 13 points she made in the first half. After the first half, the Lady Bulldogs came out stronger taking control of the third quarter outscoring their opponents by 12 points. At the start of the quarter, the Lady Bulldogs found themselves ahead of the Lady Jackets for the first time in the game.
During the fourth quarter, the game went back and forth with each team finding themselves on top and then suddenly behind. With a few seconds left, the Lady Bulldogs managed to tie the game which sent it to overtime. In overtime play, the game once again was a back and forth match with each team leading and then trailing several times. With the final minute ticking off the clock, the Lady Bulldogs managed to pull ahead of the Lady Jackets and maintained that lead until the final buzzer in a nail-biting game.
Collectively, the Lady Bulldogs attempted 44 two point baskets, making 13, for 29.5%. From the three point range, they attempted 16 shots, making 6, for 37.5%. The Lady Bulldogs were sent to the free throw line 26 times. They converted 20 of those times to points for 76.9% shooting accuracy from the free throw line. Individual stats for the Lady Bulldogs:

The Lady Bulldogs enjoyed giving the fans a nail-biting game this past Tuesday so much they thought they would repeat the excitement on Friday. With Senior night upon them, the Lady Bulldogs opened the game strong leading by 8 points at the end of the first quarter. By the end of the second, the Lady Bulldogs were able to go to the locker room with a fairly comfortable lead of 11 points. The enthusiasm the Lady Bulldogs had the first half of the game slowly started to fizzle during the second half of play.
Even though the Lady Bulldogs led the Gordonsville Tigerettes the first three quarters, the last quarter proved to be a challenge for the Lady Bulldogs. The Tigerettes stepped up their game and came back with a vengeance. Much like the Tuesday night game against Trousdale County, the game was a back and forth match. When the final buzzer sounded, the fans found they would receive four more minutes of action.
However, four minutes wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs found themselves down by four points with only one minute of play left. Once the game ended, the Lady Bulldogs were still down by four which resulted in a disappointing loss. Attempting 31 two point shots, the Lady Bulldogs successfully hit 13, for 41.9%. During the game, they attempted 10 three point shots, hitting 2, for 20%. The Lady Bulldogs were sent to the foul line a whopping 33 times. They hit 14 of those for 42.4%. And closing out their senior year with a great game was #40 Katie Hix with an outstanding 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and 9 points. Senior #50 Kalisha Lynch had a career high 24 points. She also had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
