The Red Boiling Springs Service Learning class held a pageant as a fundraiser this past Saturday, February 9, 2013. The title of the pageant was Cupid’s Sweethearts and it was held at Red Boiling Springs High School. All proceeds from the pageant went to help fund a trip the service learning students will be taking.
The students will be attending the 24th Annual National Service-Learning Conference on March 13-16, 2013 in Denver, Colorado. The conference is the largest gathering of youth and practitioners involved in service-learning, drawing more than 1,800 attendees from across the United States and many other countries each year. The conference’s multiple day, concurrent session format offers a self-directed, facilitated learning environment with education sessions, discussion groups and interactive workshops designed specifically for all levels of attendees engaged in service-learning and focused on current and emerging issues, best practices and the challenges facing us today.
At the close of the fundraiser, the RBS Service Learning class had raised over $1,400 to fund their trip. Lori Powell, RBS Service Learning coordinator, and all the service learning students would like to thank all the participants and attendees for their generous support.
