Ernest Junior Polston., USARMY(Ret.) passed away Aug. 3, 2012 in Steilacoom, Washington in local nursing home due to bad health from a stroke several years ago. E.J. was born Sept. 13, 1929 in Macon County, youngest son of the late John Ernest and Gertie Cothron Polston. E.J. enlisted to serve his country in 1945 at the age of 16, after a year of homesick and paper work he was honorably discharged due to underage. One year later at the age of 18 he enlisted again and remained for over 30 years of service. E.J. was in the Korean War, served numerous overseas tours, Japan, India, France, Germany, rising in ranks to Master Sergeant, the highest rank achievable for a Non-Commissioned Officer and received numerous awards.
E.J. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Polston, his son Gary Polston, three grandchildren, one great granddaughter, he was predeceased by three sons, Billy Bobby, and Greg, also by two brothers , Carnell, Othell Polston, two sisters, Lavell Claybourne, Evell Swindell all of Lafayette, TN. Survived by one sister, Jeanette Polston Williams of Seminole, FL. Lots of relatives in TN and FL. Cremation with burial in National Cemetery in Washington State.
