Betty “Irene” Andrews Gregory, of Scottsville, a native of Macon County was born on Tuesday, September 22, 1925 to the late Bratton H. and Eunice Smith Andrews. She departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Funeral services for Irene Gregory were conducted on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Brother Mark Sutton officiating. Pallbearers were her nephews, Everett Wilburn, Dean Wilburn, Kevin Gregory, Calvin Ellis, Gary Andrews, Gale Andrews and Jimmy Gregory.
She was married to Audie Willard Gregory, who preceded her in death on August 26, 2006. This union was blessed with a son, Jackie Gregory, who survives. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ottis Andrews, A.C. Andrews and Carsley Andrews. Irene had worked at shirt factories in Lafayette and Nashville, as well as in a grocery store in Scottsville for 20 years. She was a member of Old Bottom Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her son Jackie Gregory of Hendersonville, she is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Sarah Andrews of Goodlettsville; a sister, Myrtle Ellis of Hendersonville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Jamie Gregory of Charlotte, NC, and Jacqueline and Michael Barker of Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law, Sheila Gregory of Hendersonville; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
