Lafayette attorney Russell Brown will serve as the grand marshal of the Lafayette Christmas Parade.

Russell Brown will serve as the grand marshal of the Lafayette Christmas Parade, which will take place on Dec. 7.

Brown -- a Gainesboro native who moved to Lafayette after graduating from college in Memphis -- has been an attorney in Lafayette since 1983, with his office located on the town square.

Brown was selected because of his many years of commitment to Macon County and its citizens. He is an active member of the Lafayette Rotary Club and engages in numerous community service projects throughout the year, including being a vital member of the group that helped to develop and open Winding Stairs Park to the public.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m., with parade participants needing to be in line at the Macon County Welcome Center by 11 a.m.

There will be a variety of categories for judging among the parade entries. Among those who can participate in the parade are individuals entering antique cars/trucks, large business floats, nonprofit and club floats, small business floats, ATV/UTV, pageant queens, individual cars/trucks, small business floats, horse and rider/buggy, church entries and tractor/antique tractors.

Judging for the various categories will take place before the parade begins.

The parade will begin at Lafayette's Tractor Supply Company, will turn left on to Highway 10, will circle the square, exiting the square on to Scottsville Road, and will conclude at the Citizens Bank location on Scottsville Road.
