A convicted felon was arrested on Nov. 19 after he was pulled over for having the wrong tags on the vehicle that he was driving.

Daniel Lee Evans, 36, faces multiple charges following the incident, which occurred on Heady Ridge Road.

According to arrest reports, Evans was driving a vehicle that had government tags on it, but those tags were not the proper tags for that vehicle.

Macon County Sheriff's Department deputy Bobby Jacoby stopped the vehicle and then discovered that there was a 12-gauge shotgun in the passenger-side seat of the vehicle.

A phone call to the city of Red Boiling Springs just prior to the traffic stop involved a female telling city officials that Evans had left her residence after having stolen the shotgun.

After transporting Evans to the Macon County Sheriff's Department, Macon County Sheriff's Department Detective Jacob McClard received a phone call from the Humphreys County Sheriff Department informing deputies that Evans had been stealing from Hope Center Ministries.

Evans allegedly had a fuel card in his wallet that belongs to Hope Center Ministries, and the Humphreys County Sheriff's Department has a report on file regarding the stolen card.

Evans was charged unlawful possession of a weapon, theft of property and a license plate being displayed on the wrong vehicle.

His bond was set at $30,000, and his court date is slated for Dec. 11.
