The Macon County Times recently received three awards from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA).

In the TSWA writing competition, editor Craig Harris placed first in the Gary Lundy Writer of the Year category for Division III publications and first in the best news/event writer category.

The Times' area football preview received second place in the best special section category.

"Congratulations to Craig and the staff of the Macon County Times for their accomplishments," said Mike Alexieff, publisher of the Times. "Our readers are fortunate to have one of the best writers in the state leading their newspaper's content team."

It's the second consecutive year that the Macon County Times received three awards among the four categories in Division III.

"Any time that someone or some group is recognized for their work, it almost always comes about as a result of the collective effort of a team," Harris said. "Our team is second-to-none in my estimation. From staff writer Ethan Steinquest to customer service representative Kayci Sullins to advertising representatives Krystal Cowan and Hope Green to our freelance contributors, we have a top-notch staff consisting of high-character individuals. I'm thankful to be a part of the wonderful dynamic that we have in place. We are blessed to have our work acknowledged and are very thankful for our readers, who trust us to provide honest, trustworthy coverage of the news here in Macon County."
