Two area men face multiple charges following an incident that occurred on Saturday.

Lafayette's Nathan Fred Romine, 38, and Red Boiling Springs' Tyler Bryant Clark, 23, were charged with burglary and vandalism.

According to the arrest affidavit, the men broke into a building located at 209 Highway 52 Bypass West in Lafayette, which is owned by Carter Homes and Real Estate, and destroyed several hundred dollars worth of furniture and personal belongings. The items were the property of individuals who were renting the building from Carter Homes and Real Estate.

Romine was arrested two days earlier on a charge of driving under the influence. According to the arrest report, he was found sitting in a vehicle at the same address, and Macon County Sheriff's Department Deputy Danny Meador experienced a loud smell of alcoholic beverage, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes from Romine.

The report states that Romine was unsteady on his feet, and after Meador submitted standard field sobriety tests, Romine failed all three.

Once arriving at the Macon County Sheriff's Department, Romine consented to a breathalyzer test, and the results were that Romine's blood-alcohol contest was 0.104.

The bond for both men was set at $20,000 for the vandalism and burglary charges, and Romine's bond was set at $1,500 for the charge of driving under the influence.

Their court date is slated for Dec. 12.
