A Westmoreland man faces assault charges following a domestic dispute in which he threatened to shoot Macon County Sheriff's Department officers.

Gary Wayne Adcock, 48, was arrested following the incident, which occurred last Thursday.

According to the arrest report, Adcock allegedly grabbed a female victim by the throat when she attempted to leave a Macon County residence during an argument.

When Macon County Sheriff's Department officers Austin Cliburn and Bobby Jacoby arrived, they were told by the victim that there was a gun in the residence in addition to two juvenile children.

When the officers asked Adcock to come speak to them, he cursed the officers and threatened to shoot them if they came near the house.

After additional officers were called in to the residence, Jacoby made contact with Adcock via a public address system, Adcock said that he wasn't coming out of the house and threatened to shoot the officers if they came near the residence.

After multiple attempts of contacting Adcock through a cellphone, Adcock and both children were safely removed from the residence.

Adcock is charged with charged with reckless endangerment, assault and domestic violence.

Adcock's bond was set at $23,000, and his court date is slated for Jan. 22.
