BYRDSTOWN -- The Red Boiling Springs High baseball team produced just one hit in Monday evening's season opener, a 12-1, five-inning loss.

The Bobcats scored three runs in the first and second innings before erupting for five runs in the third.

Pickett County had eight hits and took advantage of six errors.

RBS junior leadoff hitter Matthew Murphy had his squad's lone hit, a first-inning double. He also drew a second-inning base on balls.

Sophomore Kenyan Goolsby scored the Bulldogs' lone run, reaching base thanks to an error.

RBS senior Shelba Stone drew walks in both of his plate appearances.

Luke Smith homered and tripled for Pickett County, scoring three runs and driving in three runs.
