Macon County High junior standout Morgan Carter was selected as the District 8-AA Co-Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season.

Macon County High junior standout Morgan Carter was recently selected as the District 8-AA Co-Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season.

Carter shared the award with Livingston Academy's Abi Ledbetter, a Belmont University signee.

Carter, a junior catcher, led the team in batting average (.630), on-base percentage (.672), home runs (19) and runs batted in (61). She had 11 doubles, drew 18 base on balls and scored 37 runs.

Senior teammate Allyson Shoulders was selected as the pitcher of the year for the second consecutive season. Shoulders had a 15-4 record and one save, producing a 4.23 earned-run average (ERA).

At the plate, Allyson Shoulders -- a Cumberland University signee --had a .440 batting average with 29 runs scored, eight doubles, three triples, five home runs and 39 runs batted in (RBI).

Sophomore teammate Abby Shoulders was named the co-defensive player of the year, along with Livingston Academy's Jordan Key.

Abby Shoulders - a shortstop and the team's leadoff hitter (who was the 8-AA Most Valuable Freshman last season) - led the team with 45 runs scored, 22 stolen bases and six triples. She had a .485 batting average, 11 doubles, one home run and 26 RBI.

Six other Tigerettes - senior rightfielder Rachel Ritchie, junior centerfielder Olivia Belton, junior outfielder Morgan Spivey, junior pitcher/first baseman Raini Gerometta, sophomore third baseman Madilyn Goodall and freshman leftfielder Trista Jenkins - were first-team selections.

Ritchie had a .375 batting average with 33 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples and 18 RBI.

Belton hit .347 with 26 runs scored, four doubles and 23 RBI, while Spivey hit .283 with 13 runs scored, 11 RBI and two extra-base hits.

Gerometta hit .341 with four doubles, three home runs and 32 RBI, and in the pitcher's circle, she posted a 9-6 record with one save and a 4.88 ERA.

Goodall had a .387 batting average with 11 doubles, one home run and 30 RBI, and Jenkins led the team with 13 doubles while hitting .441. Jenkins scored 30 runs and drove in 29.

Four Tigerettes - Kara Case, Myle Crowder, Makenzie Stafford and Allie Warner - were named to the 12-member all-freshman.

Stafford finished the season with a .471 batting average. She had two extra-base hits, scored 13 runs and drove in 11 runs.

Crowder posted a .410 batting average with 28 runs scored, three doubles, one triple and seven RBI.

Case - who started at second base at times - scored 13 runs and drove in five runs.

In limited action, Warner had a 3-0 pitching record with a 1.85 ERA.

Macon County won its first regular-season district title since 2008 and then finished third in the 8-AA Tournament, ending the season with a 26-11 record.

Upperman sophomore Reagan Hurst was selected as the 8-AA Offensive Player of the Year .

Livingston Academy's Kacy Bennett was chosen as the district's coach of the year, and Livingston Academy's Leah-Kate Clark is the 8-AA Freshman of the Year.
