Red Boiling Springs senior Allison Deckard was selected as the District 6-A Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season.

Red Boiling Springs High senior softball standout Allison Deckard was recently selected as the District 6-A Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Deckard - a Motlow State Community College signee who played shortstop and also pitched at times -- was the 6-A Co-MVP last season, along with Gordonsville's Shelby Williams.

Deckard led the Lady Bulldogs with eight home runs, 28 runs batted in, a .522 batting average and a .568 on-base percentage.

Deckard was joined on the all-district team by two teammates, senior Kylie Birdwell and sophomore Jasmine Pruitte.

Birdwell played first base and third base, in addition to stints in the outfield as well.

Birdwell -- who was also the RBS valedictorian -- led the team in stolen bases.

Pruitte handled most of the team's pitching responsibilities after playing third base as a freshman. She also played shortstop when Deckard was in the pitcher's circle.

Pruitte also hit in the leadoff spot for most of the season.

She was a District 6-A All-Freshman Team selection a year ago.

That trio helped the Lady Bulldogs to an 11-12 record, placed fifth in 6-A during the regular season and fourth in the District 6-A Tournament.

Deckard and Birdwell were two the team's six seniors.

Trousdale County -- the 6-A regular-season and tournament champion -- had the most all-district selections (five), and Gordonsville -- the 6-A regular-season and tournament runner-up -- had four all-district honorees.

Trousdale County also finished as the Region 3-A Tournament runner-up and suffered a 5-0 loss at Cascade in one of eight Class A sectional contests, falling one win short of reaching the Class A State Tournament.
