COOKEVILLE - Macon County High School cross country runners Isaac Kirby and Taylor Ward placed sixth individually at the Burnett Invitational, which was held on Saturday at Cookeville High School.

Kirby - a freshman - posted a time of 18:05.98.

Mt. Juliet junior Aaron Isbell won the race in a time of 17:10.21, finishing more than 14 seconds ahead of Cookeville junior Keith Wiley.

Macon County junior Elliott McGuire placed 16th, posting a time of 18:54.47.

Macon County placed fifth in the boys team competition with 140 points.

Mt. Juliet (57 points) won the boys team title, with Siegel (89) in second place and Cookeville (112) placing third.

Ward posted a time of 21:29.33.

Cookeville junior Landri Wilcox won the race with a time of 18:38.17, more than 70 seconds ahead of the second-place runner (White County junior Evan Welch).

Cookeville won the girls team competition with 33 points, with Mt. Juliet (56) in second place and Stewarts Creek (71) placing third.

Macon County junior Selena Rios placed 18th, finishing in 23:24.31.

The Tigerettes did not have enough runners to qualify in the team competition.

In the middle school boys competition, Macon County placed second with 53 points, behind West Wilson (36).

Macon County Junior High eighth-grader Jacob Willis placed second in a time of 13:02.79, more than 13 seconds behind DeKalb Middle eighth-grader Kaleb Spears.

Macon County's Connor Gammons placed fourth, with classmates Alex Sircy and Lukas Pharris placing 11th and 16th, respectively.

The Macon County Junior High girls placed third with 89 points, behind first-place DeKalb Middle (20) and Cookeville (48).

DeKalb Middle eighth-grader Ella VanVranken won the race in a time of 13:13.08, more than 22 seconds behind Macon County seventh-grader Laykin Ellis (who placed second).

Macon County Junior High eighth-grader Alexia Reed and seventh-grader Logan West placed 11th and 17th, respectively.
