BAXTER -- The visiting Macon County Junior High football team didn't allow the Upperman offense to score last Thursday evening, capturing a 12-6 victory.

It was the head-coaching debut of Jacob Coffee, who took over after Jake Johnson abruptly resigned on Aug. 23 to take the head-coaching position at Clay County High School.

The Tigers scored the first 12 points, leading 6-0 at halftime.

Devin Amalfitano recovered a fumble in the end zone for one touchdown, and Macon County quarterback Hayden Wix provided a rushing touchdown.

A fourth-quarter fumble by the Tigers was returned by the Bees for a touchdown, cutting the lead in half, but Macon County held on to improve to 2-1.

The Tigers host Smith County on Sept. 11 for homecoming.
