Macon County High sophomore runners Elliott McGuire and Taylor Ward won events in a three-team track and field meet held at Lipscomb Academy last week.

McGuire won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:06, finishing more than eight seconds ahead of Stratford sophomore Timothy Short (5:14.54).

McGuire also won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.39, again finishing ahead of the second-place Short (2:24.74).

Ward was victorious in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:44.53, finishing more than 19 seconds better than Lipscomb Academy freshman Kierstin Roy (3:04.10).

Tigerette sophomores Selena Rios (3:05.68) and Donavyn Green (3:05.79) placed third and fourth, respectively.

Ward also placed second in the 1,600-meter run (5:50.71), less than a second behind Lipscomb Academy senior Alexandria Peterson (5:49.96).

Macon County junior Bryli Nichols placed second in the girls discus with a distance of 63 feet 7 inches. Roy won the event with a throw of 92 feet 7 inches.

Tigerette sophomore Loralye Williams was the only competitor in the 100-meter hurdles, posting a time of 22.62.

Macon County's 400-meter relay team of Sadie Morgan, Alysia Nash, Julie Adams and Skylar Davis placed third with a time of 59.57. Lipscomb Academy won the even with a time of 54.81.

Tiger seniors Dillon McFerrin (98 feet 1 inches) and Logan Malotte (94 feet 4 inches) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the discus. Lipscomb Academy junior Kobi Roy won that event with a throw of 113 feet 5 inches.

The Macon County boys 400-meter relay team of Cameron Houston, Austin Robinson, Landon Whittemore and Dawson Long had a time of 49.05 to place third. Lipscomb Academy won the event with a time of 45.49.

Tiger junior Kason Tisdale placed second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.62, more than six seconds behind Stratford junior Ceandre Bradley (55.19).

Robinson placed third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.31. Stratford's Drequan Gills won that event with a time of 24.64.

The Macon County boys and girls placed second behind Lipscomb Academy and ahead of third-place Stratford.
