WHITE HOUSE -- The fifth-seeded Macon County High School boys soccer squad opened the District 8-AA Tournament with Monday evening's 2-0 victory over fourth-seeded White House Heritage in a quarterfinal match played at White House High School.

The two teams played at White House Heritage on April 25, with the Patriots claiming a 3-2 victory.

On Monday, the match was scoreless at halftime, but second-half goals by sophomores Holden Shrum and Jose Villanueva gave Macon County the win.

Senior Caleb Clark provided both assists.

Tiger junior goalkeeper Clay West made a save on a White House Heritage penalty kick.

It was Macon County's fifth shutout this season.

The Tigers improved to 7-6-1 and advanced to face No. 1 seed and perennial power White House in Tuesday evening's semifinal round.

• The Tigers concluded the regular season with a 2-1 victory over visiting Watertown.

Macon County led 1-0 at halftime as Clark scored thanks to an assist from classmate Noel Salvador-Martinez.

After Watertown tied the match at 1, Tiger sophomore Jared Hill had an unassisted goal that was the difference.

Macon County evened its district record at 3-3-1.
