Hannah Kate Simms' leadoff home run in the sixth inning handed the Macon County High softball team in a 3-2 loss to visiting White County in the two teams' season opener on Monday evening.

Three hits in the fourth inning led to the Lady Warriors' first two runs. That tied the contest at 2.

Tigerette sophomore leadoff hitter Abby Shoulders reached on a first-inning error and scored when senior teammate Allyson Shoulders singled two outs later.

Macon County junior Morgan Carter led off the third inning with a single and eventually scored when junior Raini Gerometta singled.

However, the Tigerettes managed just two baserunners over the final four innings.

Carter and Allyson Shoulders had two hits each, accounting for four of the team's six.

Freshman teammate Trista Jenkins reached base twice, via a single and a base on balls.

Gerometta pitched the first four innings, allowing four hits.

Allyson Shoulders pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits and two base on balls while striking out one hitter.
