On Aug. 27, Bessie Laura Haley Morgan passed from this life, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1926, in Lafayette, to the late Grover Cleveland Haley and Neva Meador Haley. Bessie was one of nine children born to this union.

Along with her parents, Bessie was also preceded in death by: her daughter, Susan Jeanette Morgan; grandson, Mitchell Morgan; sons-in-law, Randy Harrell, Gary Kirby; father of her children, Herman Buck Morgan; sisters, Kate Haley Cothron, Vergie Lee Polston, Georgia Alice Haley; and brothers, Elbridge Haley, Thomas Greene Haley, Charles E. Haley, and Grover Allen Haley.

Bessie was a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, and worked as a cashier for Haag Drug Store.

When her health began to decline, Bessie moved back to Lafayette to spend her last days close to her family.

She was a member of Lafayette Church of Christ. Bessie was a sweet Christian woman who loved everyone.

Bessie will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and loved ones.

Bessie Laura Haley Morgan is survived by: her daughter, Laura Morgan Kirby; son, Terry Van Morgan (and wife, Rhonda); daughter, Linda Joyce Morgan Harrell; grandchildren, Andy Morgan (and wife, Mary), Sabrina Bentley (and husband, Billy), Brandie Harrell, Megan Morgan, Kobee Kirby (and wife, Katie), Kendall Harrell, Katie Kelley (and husband, Daniel), Caleb Muncie, Jeanetta Morgan; sister, Bea Haley Chapman; and brother-in-law, Henry Polston. Twenty great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Aug. 30 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Zack White officiating. Interment followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were: grandsons, Andy Morgan, Kobee Kirby, Caleb Muncie; great-grandsons, Matthew Morgan, Andrew Morgan, Nathaniel Bentley; and nephew, Tracy Haley.

Alexander Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
